If you have been stress eating with a side of emotional quarantine cravings – it’s ok – we’re in a global pandemic here! There’s always time to get back on track.

Being stuck inside for long periods and working from home, plus trying to mom, dad, wife, husband - you name it, can completely disrupt our usual routines and seriously throw good exercise and eating habits straight out of the window. Not all is lost, there are ways to get back at it.

These are some of the things I practice and schedule in (with a whole lot of breathing in-between) to help me feel my best to cope better with the unexpected things life throws at me

  1. Easy mornings: Allow your body to wake up properly in the morning by slowly starting your day and gathering your thoughts with some breathwork or stretching to set the tone for the rest of your day – even if you have to wake up earlier to schedule it in – try it!

  2. Wake up your gut: Drink a glass of lemon and lukewarm water, and eat something light for breakfast – try eat fruits on an empty stomach and take a good probiotic or multi-vitamin [Kristen to add link to product] - this all helps keep your gut healthy and awake to tackle the day ahead

  3. Snack Mindfully: If you’re snacking from am to pm, come up with a schedule to prevent over-snacking. Be mindful when shopping for snacks and stick to your greens, rainbow fruits, and veggies along with high fibre energy-boosting foods – these always help me feel strong in my body and help keep cravings at bay.

  4. Move your body: Try to move every day! Dance, jump or skip around your home – as long as your body moves. The best form of exercise for me is walking – it’s been said we should all try aim to walk for 1 hour per day

  5. Get lean: Keep your muscle tone strength at its optimum by making sure you are getting enough lean protein into your diet and you getting in some reps of squats, crunches, and planks during the week

  6. Get Journaling: Write down everything you feeling, then think of all the blessings you have in your life and all the things you are grateful for. While journaling keep thinking positive thoughts for all the things you happy about – positive thinking helps flow positivity into your life
